As Marketing Communications Director for a large engineering and construction company in 2006 and 2007, I was responsible for branding.

Promotional products were everywhere, purchased by all kinds of people, given with no coordination, with lots of overspending. Everybody was doing their own thing without coordination or controls.

My challenge was to:
* lower the spending,
* increase coordination,
* protect and promote the brand,
* and keep everyone happy while doing it.

I didn't say it was easy.

About that time, Daryn Kinsinger of Western Associates approached me to see if we'd be interested in doing business with him. I told him I'd be interested if he could deliver what I wanted, which was to:

* Work with the vendor and all of the buyers to define our needs and develop a line for all of us to use to meet them.
* Get the best price possible.
* Outline how many of each item to order at a time with trigger points for reorders.
* Have the vendor stock the inventory (eliminating labor and overhead for us).
* Have the vendor create a website for us all to use that would have the vendor direct shipping and billing the orders to the customers.
* Give employees access so they too could purchase any of the items at the same price to promote good feelings about our employer, show our pride, and further promote our company.

As a result, we:
* reduced fixed costs of set up charges over a larger number of customers,
* reduced the per piece cost,
* eliminated storage costs,
* drastically reduced staff time spent sourcing, purchasing, billing, and handling product,
* expanded brand promotion,
* ensured branding standards were met.

Daryn delivered all of the above and more. Always professional and pleasant, knowledgeable, very creative with product ideas that met our objectives, and willing to do whatever it took. Of all the vendor relationships I've had over the years, Daryn has been one of the most impressive.

I'm now with the KU School of Medicine-Wichita and still doing business with Daryn. I highly recommend him.
